Homemade chopped pea soup with ham in a bowl.

Chopped pea soup with ham bones

Chopped pea soup with ham like the one you grew up on. This soup is packed with finely chopped vegetables and peas, easy to make, and even better to consume. This is a warm heart and soul. Chopped pea soup is one of the feel good soups that is useful for you too. Don’t let the color of this insanely delicious soup spill over. Its vibrant color just means it tastes good and is healthy too. The aroma is incredible and the taste keeps you coming back bowl after bowl.

The chopped pea soup after cooking the ham and leftovers is one of my favorite dishes. This is an ideal way to use the ham and not waste it. It gives the chickpea soup just enough salty smoky flavor that it makes this soup irresistible. Ham also gives you extra protein and helps alleviate hunger. Another advantage of this recipe is that the chopped peas are very cheap. So if you use the leftover ham, a hearty meal is pretty inexpensive. Serve it with a muffin and a nice green salad and have a meal that you will definitely enjoy!

Ingredients for pea soup

Nice and useful, this soup is full of useful nutrients for you. Herbs and spices give extra flavor and flavor. If you don’t have leftover ham that you can use, ask the butcher at one of the local grocery stores. You can also leave out the ham bone and just add the ham. It’s not going to taste good, but it’s still amazing.

  • Manteca: To roast vegetables.
  • an onion: A classic ingredient for most soups.
  • Carrots: Cut into small pieces.
  • Celery: Add incredible flavor to broths.
  • Ajo: It gives good flavor to chopped pea soup.
  • Chopped dried peas: You can find it with other dried beans at your local store.
  • Chicken Soup: The flavor and base of the soup.
  • Good ham: If you don’t have one, see if you can get one from your local butcher.
  • salt and pepper: Add more or less to taste.
  • Fresh thyme: Fresh gives a good light flavor. You can use dry, just a teaspoon.
  • Chopped ham: This is optional, but you like the extra flavor it gives you.

How to make chopped pea soup

Like most soups, this split pea soup completely loses its flavor when the vegetables are fried. The longer you let it cook, the more flavors it combines. Beat just enough to make the cookies.

  1. SevenIn a large saucepan over medium heat, butter the butter and allow it to melt. Add the onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Roast until tender
  2. add: Chopped chickpeas and pour chicken broth. Carefully place the dimension on the hemp.
  3. Boiling: Boil and cook without problems for 60-90 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cook until the peas are crushed and the soup is thick.
  4. cutting: Take the ham and chop the ham. Add it back to the soup. Add salt, pepper, and thyme. Garnish with extra ham if necessary.

Roast the vegetables, cook the ham bones, and chop the ham for the pea soup.

What are chopped peas?

  • what are those? Chopped peas are peas that are dried, peeled, and cut in half for easy cooking. They come in green and yellow so adding them to your soup can be fun. Yellows have a milder flavor and are sweeter than chopped peas. For this reason, they pair perfectly with salty ham. As they cook, they thicken and create a wonderful creamy texture that is perfect for soup.
  • Do you have to wet them? Chopped chickpeas are small, so you don’t need to soak them. The cooking time of the soup is more than enough to give these tender and desired minced chickpeas. Simply rinse the chopped peas before adding them to the soup. Since you don’t need to soak the peas, it will save you time in the first place. The long cook time also allows the aromas to mix well and cook and thicken to a complete texture.
  • Are they nutritious? Chopped peas are definitely good for you. They are low in fat, fiber, and protein and are a good source of vitamins and minerals, including magnesium.

Tips and changes about pea soup

  • Add vegetables: This is a hearty soup, but you can add more depth by adding some red or yellow potatoes with chopped carrots.
  • Thick: When cooking, the peas should break down and thicken on their own, if you feel like you want to thicken, leave the last 20-30 minutes without boiling. Note that the soup thickens on standing and cooling. In fact, it may be necessary to dilute it with water the next day.
  • Boneless ham: Don’t worry if you don’t have ham bones. You can still get that great flavor from the thick slices of minced ham. Sprinkle with liquid and let it rest with the rest. Add bacon at the end for decoration and more flavor if desired.

Save leftover soup

If you have leftovers that are always better the next day, you can keep them in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Hold it tight and remember that it thickens when you sit down. Add broth or water to thin as needed. Reheat in different parts of the stove in the medium or low microwave.

Can I freeze it?

Yes, this soup freezes well! First, let the soup cool completely and place it in waterproof containers or zip-top freezer bags. This work stays in the freezer for 3 months. Melt in the refrigerator overnight and reheat the next day.

More soups for love!

The soup is very good and an easy way to make dinner. They can be super healthy, super comfortable, and always super fun! Nothing better than a nice hot bowl that can cool you off on a cool night. Soups are also relatively easy. You can put everything in a pot and let it rest until you are ready to eat. The soup can be easily changed and adapted. If you do not have a specific substance, you can substitute another substance, depending on the substance present. The soup is so delicious, try some of these real yummy soups tonight!
