An Amazon deliveryman has been praised for his Olympic-level reactions after confronting a giant dog that leaped across the grass towards him, only to find that the 13-stone English Mastiff just wanted to say hello.
Hilarious CCTV footage from outside Allan and Meredith Anderson’s home shows the moment the driver pulls up in the direction of California, USA.
Without paying much attention to the ‘Beware of the dog’ sign on the door, the driver casually lets himself in and heads toward the front door, disappearing from sight.
But seconds later he is caught running back, jumping over the fence with the package still in hand, followed shortly after by Winston, the dog wagging his tail like crazy.
The driver can be seen safely picking himself up on the other side of the fence, but he breaks out into a big smile when he realizes that the enthusiastic Winston just wanted someone to play with.
He laughs as Meredith walks over and picks up the package, without the owner of the house realizing what just happened.
Real estate agent Allan, 56, said: “We were completely shocked, especially since he didn’t tell us anything.
“We couldn’t believe what happened and how high he could jump.
“Once we realized that no one was hurt, we laughed at ourselves. It seemed like the delivery driver had a lot of fun.
Meredith was taking some trash out of the front door and Winston just ran out. You can’t see the door from our door, so he didn’t know what happened.
She wondered why the delivery driver was on the opposite side of the driveway, panting and smiling to himself. She just told him, “He’s just a big, friendly puppy, sorry if he scared you.”
“It wasn’t until Meredith mentioned how strange the situation was that we decided to rewatch the security footage.
When you open the front door, he just wants to run out and see what’s going on. It is so friendly.
Even at 180 pounds, Winston is still a lap dog. He’s just a great squishy, but he’s very athletic for an English Mastiff. Usually they just lie down, but he also runs and jumps.
«It is an absolute love. If the delivery driver had bowed down to say hello afterwards, Winston would probably still be licking his face.
“I am very happy that no one was injured. We have raised the door since we moved in and we also have the ‘watch out for the dog’ sign, so we have taken precautions.
The clip has been viewed more than five million times since Allan posted it on social media, with one comparing the driver to a “steeplechase champion.”
Another said, ‘I couldn’t have gotten over the fence! Made it look so easy. I wonder if it’s part of Amazon’s driver training. “
